Matasha Harris, Ph.D.
Matasha Harris, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Bowie State University. Dr. Harris holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy in Criminal Justice from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She earned her Master of Arts in Sociology and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. She has over ten years of experience teaching at the collegiate level. Prior to joining Bowie State University, she served as a faculty member at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Florida Memorial University, and Old Dominion University. Dr. Harris' research and scholarship include prisoner reentry; intimate partner violence; race, class, gender, and criminal justice; and community-based corrections. Her research is highlighted in her book, Returning Home: Prisoner Reentry and Intimate Partner Violence.
